Nil. It is free to list a car on the British Car Connection marketplace, including both auction and buy-it-now listings.

  2. How do I submit my car for consideration and what happens after I submit it?

You can submit your car by going here. Once you submit your vehicle, we will review your submission and get back to you to schedule a consultation, typically within 2 business days. Your consultant will work with you to complete the listing.

  3. How long does it take for my vehicle to get published?

It usually takes 7-10 days from submission to get published live on the site. The more information you provide during the process, the quicker we can get your vehicle listing published.

  4. What happens when my vehicle is sold? How do I get paid?

The transaction for a car purchased through the buy-it-now or through an auction on British Car Connection is between the buyer and the seller. At a confirmed close of a sale, the buyer and seller will receive each other’s contact information via email to complete the sale.

  5. Can I sell my vehicle on British Car Connection if I'm not located in the United States?

Sure! We will consider cars from anywhere in the world.

  6. How long can buy-it-now listings stay published on the British Car Connection marketplace?

Vehicles must be listed exclusively on British Car Connection for a minimum of 7 days (unless sold within that time frame) and may remain listed for any duration thereafter, at the discretion of the seller.

  7. How long do British Car Connection auctions last?

Auctions will typically start in the evening and end 7 days later. We don’t want anyone missing a chance to buy if they are working a 9-5. We are willing to discuss a longer listing timeframe if desired by the seller.

  8. How do reserves work?

A reserve is the minimum price that a car will sell for. We work with sellers to set reasonable reserves. Reserve values are not shown on the listing, nor do we announce when reserves have been met. Cars being sold for “No Reserve” are displayed on the listing.

  9. Can I edit my listing once it is published?

Buy-it-now listings can be edited on request by contacting your account manager. Auction listings cannot be edited once an auction goes live, but you can add additional information or submit more photos or media to your listing at any time during the live auction.

  10. Who writes the marketplace listing for my vehicle?

The British Car Connection content team writes the listings and works closely with each seller to develop an accurate and detailed description of a vehicle.

  11. Can I relist my car if it doesn't sell?

If your vehicle doesn’t sell by auction and you are interested in relisting as a buy-it-now, contact your British Car Connection account manager for more information on how to relist your vehicle.

  12. How does shipping work?

We have recommendations and vendors we work with that can give you a good deal, but it is up to the buyer and seller to determine and coordinate vehicle transfer.

  13. Can I lower my reserve?

Yes, you are able to lower your reserve at any point. Contact your British Car Connection account manager if you are interested in lowering your vehicle reserve.

  14. Can I cancel my auction once it's live?

Live auctions cannot be canceled. If something happens to your vehicle while it’s up for auction, please contact your British Car Connection account manager to discuss.

  15. What happens when an auction ends?

If the auction reserve is met when the listing ends (or the auction has no reserve), British Car Connection provides the seller and winning bidder with each others’ contact information. The buyer and seller then work together to complete the transaction and arrange for shipping if necessary. British Car Connection Will provide assistance or answer questions during this part of the process. If the auction reserve is not met when the listing ends, British Car Connection will liaise with the highest bidder and seller to see if there is an opportunity to put a deal together.

Buyer Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How does shipping work?

We have recommendations and vendors we work with that can give you a good deal, but it is up to the buyer and seller to determine and coordinate vehicle transfer.

  2. How can I start bidding?

To participate in bidding on a vehicle, users must have a completed profile with a valid credit card (This helps to ensure only those who are really interested are bidding on vehicles – Don’t worry, you aren’t charged unless you actually make a purchase). Sign up here and log in here.

  3. How does bidding work?

During an auction, enter a bid that is higher than the current bid on the auction. You will become the high bidder and if someone outbids you, British Car Connection will send you an email notification in case you wish to increase your bid. For buy-it-now offers, you will receive an email notification from British Car Connection informing you whether your offer has been accepted.

  4. Can I make a buy-it-now offer on an auction?

No. Buy-it-now offers are only available for explicitly labeled “buy it now” listings. Auctions end with the vehicle going to the highest bidder (assuming the reserve has been met).

  5. Is there a buyer’s fee if I win?

Yes. If you win an auction we charge 5% of the final bid price on top of the winning bid, with a minimum fee of $250. The fee for sales higher than $100,000 is capped at $5,000.

  6. What is a “reserve” auction?

A reserve is the minimum price that a car will sell for. We work with sellers to set reasonable reserves. Reserve values are not shown on the listing, nor do we announce when reserves have been met. Cars being sold for “No Reserve” are displayed on the listing.

  7. Can I comment?

Yes. It’s strongly encouraged! Comments are available on all auctions to assist both the potential buyers and the seller, as well as allow the British Car Connection community to add their expertise.

  8. Do I need to have credit card information included in my profile to be able to comment?

No. We encourage community participation and you do not have to be a buyer to be part of the conversation.

  9. How can I contact the seller?

Look for the big Contact Seller button on every live auction. That will let you send a message to the seller and they’ll be able to reply to the email address you have on file with British Car Connection. You must be registered to bid in order to do this. If you receive no answer from the seller, please contact us directly.

  10. Should I view the vehicle?

Our goal is to ensure that all vehicles are accurately and honestly presented so that there is no need to view in person. If you would like to learn more about a specific aspect of the vehicle, please comment on the listing or contact the seller directly so they can provide more information.

  11. How do I find out more about a particular car?

A direct question to the seller would be recommended. You will probably find that the British Car Connection community may well chime in with some useful facts and interesting tidbits.

  12. Can I just wait until the last minute to put in the highest bid in an auction?

During the last 2 minutes of a live auction, the clock resets to 2 minutes after every new high bid. This happens until no more bids are placed and the auction ends. This gives everyone a chance to place their bids and gives sellers a chance to sell to the true high bidder.

  13. Can I trust the description?

Yes. Our goal is to ensure that all vehicles are accurately and honestly presented.

  14. How can I inspect a car?

We really hope that the description provided in the listing will give you a thorough representation of the vehicle. It is always a good idea to have a vehicle inspected and we encourage sellers to have appropriate inspections and include supporting documentation included in the listing. Pre-purchase inspections are not a requirement for selling a vehicle on British Car Connection and are not a contingency for completing a sale on the marketplace. Any decision to perform an inspection on a vehicle is at the sole discretion of the buyer/seller post-sale. Buy-it-now offers with PPI contingency will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Pre-purchase inspection is the responsibility of the buyer.

  16. Which payment methods do you accept? Who do I pay?

British Car Connection accepts most credit and debit cards. Our fee is charged at the end of a successful sale (auction or direct sale). The buyer and seller will work together to complete the transaction for the vehicle and arrange for shipping if necessary. Our team is happy to provide assistance or answer questions during this part of the process.

  17. Can you help me with vehicle transport or storage?
